A restaurant based in Westlands is urgently looking forward to filling the following positions:

Chef
  • An individual who is able to deliver in the following areas:
  • Hot Kitchen
  • Production
  • Quality Output
  • Costing
  • Buffet
  • Ala carte
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Direct the preparation, seasoning and cooking of salads, soups, fish, meats, vegetables, desserts or any other food
  • Plan and price menu items, coming up with food recipes and orders supplies and keep records and accounts
  • Supervise and participate in cooking and the preparations of foods
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a diploma in cooking, catering or any other related field
  • A minimum of two years experience in a busy restaurant or institution
  • Ability to do costing
  • Ability to creatively present/serve food
  • Proper food handling and storage procedure
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent in proper management of kitchen equipments
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Preference will be given to a Chef with experience in African, Swahili and Indian Cuisines.

Cook
  • An individual with the ability to deliver the following areas:
  • Ala carte
  • African Foods
  • Buffet
  • Costing
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in preparing meals.
  • Inspect food production areas and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food handling practices.
  • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods.
  • Portion, arrange and garnish foods to waiters for patrons.
  • Estimate expected food consumption, then do a requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage.
  • Coordinate and supervise work of kitchen staff.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a certificate in cooking, catering or any other related field
  • A minimum of two years experience in a busy restaurant or institution
  • Ability to do costing
  • Ability to creatively present /serve food
  • Proper food handling and storage procedure
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent in proper management of kitchen equipments
  • Preference will be given to a cook with experience in African, Swahili and Indian cuisines

Cashier

This position requires excellent customer service and great attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Will be incharge of the cash register
  • Balancing the register at the end of the shift
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in front office operations
  • 1 year front desk/receptionist experience preferably in hospitality industry
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills with strong ability to create the right impression
  • Ability to accurately record information
  • Great attention to detail
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • High degree of honesty and integrity

Waiter/Waitress

This position requires excellent customer service for our clients – ensuring total satisfaction of the customer from the time he/she enters the establishment up to the time they leave.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Receiving customers
  • Informing customers on items available on the menu
  • Taking orders from customers on food and beverage
  • Presenting menus to customers and answer questions about menu items
  • Providing excellent customer service to ensure that the customers enjoy their meals
  • Take action to correct any problem customers may have regarding the restaurant
  • Explaining how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
  • Table setting
  • Receiving payment from customers
Qualifications:
  • Certificate in a hospitality course
  • Good communication skills
  • Good in simple addition
  • 1 year’s experience working as a waiter
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge about food and food service
  • Patient attitude
  • Well organized, presentable and ability to work under pressure and long hours.
