Entrepreneurship Training Officer Job in Kenya – I Choose Life Africa (ICL)

I Choose Life – Africa (ICL) is one of the leading Non-Governmental Organizations that has contributed greatly to HIV prevention efforts among the youth in Kenya today. 

The organization has programs in over 100 institutions (University, tertiary institutions and high schools) across Kenya and reaches over 1 million youth annually with behavior change communication messages.

ICL’s vision is to see ‘AN AIDS free Africa. Her goal is to contribute to the Kenya National AIDS Strategic Plan III. ICL’s mission is to create a movement of caring communities among youth that make responsible and informed choices with regard to Life and HIV & AIDS through prevention, care and support and mitigation of socio-economic impact. 
The organization’s programs are anchored around four pillars: Sexual and Reproductive Health, Economic Empowerment, Academic and Career mentoring and Leadership and Governance (SEAL).

Entrepreneurship Training Officer

We are seeking to recruit an Entrepreneurship Training Officer who will be responsible for providing the youth and our target beneficiaries with the skills and knowledge to create an enabling business environment to start up viable businesses, to generate income and gain key experience as entrepreneurs

Main Responsibilities;

  • Spearhead the development of the Entrepreneurship Training Manual / Module.
  • Develop, conduct and manage the delivery of Entrepreneurship Training 
  • Coaching and mentoring entrepreneurs
  • Facilitation of market linkages and business networks for the micro and small enterprises.
  • Conduct training need assessments, identify areas that require strengthening, develop a capacity building strategy, assist in its implementation to address   the identified gaps and submit reports.
  • Train the target groups in the implementation of group savings, loans and business development skills
  • Participate in the development and update of training materials.
  • Ensure proper documentation and dissemination of lessons learnt.
  • Evaluation of trainings conducted.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees.

Person specifications – Academic Qualifications, Experience and Personality desired:-

  • A Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences.
  • A minimum of two years Entrepreneurship training experience. 
  • Experience in working with a financial institution will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, a keen eye for detail, good presentation and interpersonal skills and excellent report   writing skills.
  • Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the programme.
  • Ability to forge partnership and negotiations between NGO, corporate and institutions 
  • Innovativeness throughout the program and organization
  • A sensitive and patient approach to advising and mentoring of the target population.
  • Ability to analyze and utilize programme development gaps for designing Programmes.
  • Ability to manage heavy workloads, to multitask and to meet deadlines.
  • Capacity to be flexible and adaptable to changing contexts and priorities.
  • Capacity to be flexible and adaptable to changing contexts and priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
