Job Summary
The incumbent will serve as an Orphans and Vulnerable Children Program Officer to the HIV/AIDS programme. 
Working under the supervision of the Clinical Team lead, she/he will work primarily focusing on OVC program implementation and also offer technical support to implementing community linkage and Home based care functions based on good working knowledge of PEPFAR.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Program Officer will be responsible for:
  • Providing management and technical support for organizations to meet pressing OVC needs in KW, especially in the context of HIV/AIDS
  • Providing training and mentoring to capacity build for the purpose of improved program quality in compliance with donor requirements
  • Develop and operationalize monitoring and quality assurance/improvement tools, processes and systems
  • Offer technical support to the social component of the HIV program at the PSC- level
  • Assist in problem solving in the context of difficult psychosocial cases
  • Communicate and coordinate with program and project staff, partners and other stakeholders, including local authorities to meet the needs of OVC
  • Support and coordinate routine reports
  • Submit consolidated and required narrative quarterly reports to WRP HIV program leadership
Desired Education
  • A holder of a Bachelors degree in sociology or social work or Equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 2 year experience with child focused or community based program
  • Familiarity with the full continuum of HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment components a must.
  • Proven professional experience in support programming for orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC)
Skills and qualities
  • A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a high profile, fast -paced environment
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage a variety of activities concurrently
  • Ability to communicate technical issues effectively and persuasively
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with civil society organizations (local NGOs, CBOs) and government agencies, including but not limited to the ministries of Health, justice, Education, Security and Gender
  • Experience with training, facilitation and mentoring skills
  • Good writing and presentation skills
  • Experience working in an international programs especially those funded by U.S. Government a strong plus
