Shop Manager and Assistant Manager Jobs in Nairobi Kenya – Books and Stationery Distributor

Our client is a leading established distributor for books and stationery in Kenya and is looking for a Shop Manager as well as Assistant Manager to service its chain of stores in Nairobi
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Drive business strategies to achieve sales goals, supporting business opportunities/ initiatives and efforts to increase market share and leadership.
 
Plan, direct and supervise the work and productivity levels of shop staff; building a motivated sales force at the store.
 
Coordinate the shops sales and marketing function ensuring projected revenues and margins are achieved.
 
Ensure the distributorship’s standards are met or exceeded i.e. appropriate branding, store displays, merchandizing and replenishment of floor supplies.
 
Establish delightful customer service and experience ensuring that customer facing positions understand their roles in interacting with staff to meet and exceed needs of customers.
 
Set up a high performance team by developing and managing performance of sales team
 
Accountable for the day to day sales and operations of the shop, including maintaining a neat, orderly, safe and secure environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
  • Business degree in Retail management/ Marketing or any relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with a retail store / or distributorship
  • Minimum of 2 years managerial experience with a retail store / or distributorship
  • Strong understanding of retail – related selling or retail operating environment
  • Exceptional sales and presentation skills
  • Effective customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of financial operations and processes
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Good organization skills
Competences
  • Ability to keep abreast with industry practices in retail business management
