KIE Chief Television (TV) Programmer/Director Job in Kenya

The Kenya Institute of Education (KIE) wishes to recruit qualified professionals for the following vacant positions:
Chief Television (TV) Programmer/Director
Scale KIE 11 (1 Post)

a) Duties and responsibilities
  1. Formulating the station goals, policies and procedures;
  2. Coordinating programming of the education channel broadcast schedules;
  3. Previewing and evaluating local and international educational television programmes to determine relevance and quality for transmission;
  4. Sourcing for suitable Educational programmes for broadcast.
  5. Responding to viewers’ questions, comments and/or complaints regarding television programming/scheduling;
  6. Preparing annual workplan and budget;
  7. Conducting monitoring and evaluation of the educational channel programmes and prepare reports;
  8. Liaising with the Production manager on programmes content and schedules;
  9. Ensuring compliance with national and international regulations and guidelines in broadcasting;
  10. Initiating programme sponsorship; and
  11. Inducting, training and supervising staff.
b) Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Communications, Media Studies, Broadcast Journalism, Information Sciences or related field and at least three (3) years experience in programme evaluation, acquisition and scheduling of television programmes in a reputable broadcasting house at a supervisory level;
  2. TV Production training;
  3. Knowledge of Kenyan Curricular or Educational Television;
  4. Conversant with broadcast regulations, rules and guidelines as well as technical and production standards;
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
  6. Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  7. Initiative, be a team player and
  8. Proficiency in computer use and application.
