Assistant Designer (Africa) Job in Nairobi Kenya

Our Client: A leader in FMCG / Liquor Industry; owning and operating duty free travel retail shops at airports and seaports worldwide, as well as involving in brand development, marketing, and sales. 
The company is headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, operating through a network of offices and warehouses in Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Job Title: Assistant Designer – Africa

Job Summary: The Designer is responsible for supporting the creative design group, utilizing strong conceptual, creative and typographic skills to translate successful marketing ideas into effective visual solutions.

Type of Hire: Local

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Gross Salary: KES 40,000 – KES 50,000

Job Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating with other in-house designers on ongoing projects and conceptualization of new marketing material when possible
  • Interpreting briefs efficiently and produce substantive design content
  • Creating revisions and print-ready files from creative concepts
  • Maintaining brand consistency throughout the work
  • Photo retouching
  • Maintain electronic archives of all collateral, elements and images
  • Overseeing pre-press and post-press production processes
Mandatory Requirements:
  • 3 years of experience; and
  • 1 year in a graphic or web design position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Web Design or its equivalent
  • Proficient with InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop (flash knowledge will be beneficial)
  • Ability to flexibly work with both Microsoft and Mac OSX
  • Be meticulous when it comes to attention to detail    
  • Must have a strong interest in design trends and have an artistic flair
  • Stability under pressure – reacts well to change and stays positive despite setbacks
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Flexible – maintains effectiveness in a fast moving and/or changing environment and with varying tasks, responsibilities or people
  • Self motivated – must be able to work unsupervised    
  • Able to stick to deadlines
