Kuresok Empowerment Group Project Manager Job in Transmara Kenya

Kuresok Empowerment Group [KUEG] is a non-profit making Community Based Organization (CBO) registered under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development with its main objective; to empower the rural community in all dimensions of socio-economic and sustainable environmental aspects. 
The organization is promoting and coordinating various activities geared towards attaining this goal, currently it is engaged in raising tree seedlings and planting, poultry farming & Bee Keeping, promotion and construction of energy efficient Jikos, water resources management and supply, advancing new agricultural techniques (Conservation Agriculture) and creation of HIV/ Aids awareness in the community. 

Its area of operation is Kapsasian, Emurua Dikirr and Mogor Locations in Transmara East District.

The organization has received funding from the Community Development Trust Fund (CDTF), trust of the European Union, DANIDA and the Government of Kenya to undertake environmental conservation project titled: Trans Mara Environment conservation Movement project 2030, for three years (2012-2015) under Community Environment Facility (CEF II) program. 
The project is in its third year and remains to be implemented for another one year.
In view of the above, we intend to recruit the highly qualified, experienced and competent person to fill in the vacant position of Project Manager under the above mentioned project:
The project manager will be reporting to the PIC, the Project Manager will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating day- to -day implementation of project activities
  • Implementing the recommendations of the Project Implementation Committee (PIC) as contained in the project document
  • Providing technical and administrative support to the PIC
  • Supervising the implementation of various project activities in collaboration with other key project partners
  • Preparing both narrative and financial reports as per the Financing Agreement under the direction of the PIC and distribute them to the respective offices
  • Providing secretarial services to PIC including organizing and facilitating project meetings and taking minutes
  • Preparing relevant project documents and reports for review and approval by the PIC
  • Custodian of all project property and maintenance of accurate project records including community contribution and ledgers
  • Facilitating preparation and logistical arrangements for all project trainings including seminars, workshops and exchange visits among others
  • Ensuring timely preparation and submission of work plans, financial and progress reports
  • Conducting monitoring and evaluation jointly with the PIC and other partners to track project progress.
  • Coordinating various and relevant projects and programmes within the organization.
  • Carrying out critical evaluation of projects/programmes at all stages of the implementation.
  • Attend any other assignment as may be delegated by the organization’s authority.
Qualifications and Experience
For appointment to this post, a candidate must have:
  • He / She must have at least a first degree in Natural Resources Management, environmental sciences, community development, entrepreneurship, or social sciences with good understanding of project management cycle.
  • Must have at least 3 years experience in community based management projects with special interest in environmental conservation and poverty reduction issues
  • Those applicants with a Diploma in Natural Resources Management, environmental sciences, community development, entrepreneurship, or social sciences and with good understanding of project management cycle & five years working experience will also be considered.
  • Must have excellent community mobilization and organizational skills
  • A good understanding of the local context/issues particularly environmental and poverty
  • Must have good communication and inter-personal skills
  • Must be computer literate with good technical report writing skills
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision
  • Basic accounting, book keeping skills will be an added advantage
Terms of Service for these posts: This is a Project-based Contract position for 9 months and the person recruited to this position will be based or station in Trans Mara East Sub-County, project site.
