Due to expansion and growth, the following position has come up in our organization.

Information Technology Manager – Kenya & East Region Support

Position objective: Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the candidate will be responsible for monitoring, managing, and optimizing the IT activity in the East African region, while displaying proactive approach and to drive continual improvements to maintain a highly stable server and network infrastructure.

 

Key Outputs include:
  • Provide professional Back Office operational support for Microsoft Server and Network environment.
  • Primary responsibilities are the monitoring, management, and optimization of Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange. This role requires a highly proactive approach and will be expected to drive continual improvements to maintain a highly stable server and network infrastructure.
  • Responsible for backup of company and application data.
  • Manage the network infrastructure from a design, implementation, planning, installation and support point of view.
  • Troubleshoot, manage and resolve Server and Network related calls.
  • Installation and configuration.
  • On-going maintenance (housekeeping, health checks etc.) and maintain Technical Documentation for the region.
  • Reporting status to management. Identifying problems and bringing them to the Manager’s attention with sufficient lead time to avert crises.
  • Plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and work focusing on advanced security, voice and wireless solutions.
  • To implement new server and networking infrastructure as required.
  • To perform first level support for day to day server/network operations.
  • To evaluate, implement and apply new technologies and to enhance the service offering of the network team in MCSA – ITD.
  • To own and ensure successful on-going delivery of services after project completion.
  • To take accountability for timely delivery of major projects.
  • To develop co-operative working across function boundaries.
  • Be able to diagnose hardware and software related issues on Cisco equipment.
  • Ensuring that response times are kept within the parameters set.
  • Adhering to company processes and procedures including relevant documentation.
  • Install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot routed and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN.
  • Plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and work focusing on advanced security, voice and wireless solutions.
  • Ensure call center systems and PABX are functioning.
  • Responsible for Vendor management including Contracts and SLA Reviews
  • Responsible for IT governance by ensuring adherence and compliance to IT policies and maintenance of IT Risk registers
  • Provide input into and manage the IT Budget for the Region
Qualifications and Competencies    
  • Bachelor of Science Computer Science or related.
  • At least 4-5 years’ experience preferably at managerial level.
  • Experience at technology oriented service firms; Mobile telephony, BPO call centres, etc. will be an added advantage.
  • Technical understanding of principles and practices of personal computers, telecommunications and information technology.
  • Extensive Active Directory / Exchange experience essential – administration and implementation
  • MCSE Exchange 2003 MCSE essential
  • MCSE Windows Server 2003/MCITP Windows Server 2008 essential
  • MCTS Windows Server 2008 Virtualization beneficial
  • Experience in Backup software and methodologies
  • WAN technologies: Frame relay, MPLS, Satellite, ADSL, GPRS/3G, etc.
  • WAN Optimization
  • LAN/WAN switching and routing technologies
  • Routing protocols and policy based routing
  • Networking redundancy and load balancing implementation
  • Quality of service
