About us: For over 90 years, Save the Children has been making a difference in children’s lives in more than 120 countries.
We
are the world’s largest independent child rights organization,
underpinned by a vision in a world in which every child attains the
right to survival, protection, development and participation.
Our
mission to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children,
and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.

Save the Children is an organization for talented people with different backgrounds and perspectives.
We are proud that our people are representative of the children we work with and we thrive on our diversity.
We
are an equal opportunity organization dedicated to our core values of
Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration, Creativity and Integrity.
Our
culture is embedded in these values, along with a strong commitment to
our Child Safeguarding Protocol, ensuring that all representatives of
Save the Children demonstrate the highest standards of behaviour towards
children both in their private and professional lives.

Save the Children International is looking to recruit for the following position:

Regional Portfolio Lead

As part of our strategic plan to grow into a High-Performing Organisation, Save the Children International is creating two global teams: Change & Deployment and Portfolio Management.
As part of the C&D Team, we are currently recruiting for Regional Portfolio Lead, to be based in our East & Southern Africa region, to work within this newly created team, which will enable the timely implementation of new supporting systems and business processes across 55 global offices.

In this newly created role, you will be responsible for managing the regional portfolio for Save the Children International, and you will assist in the implementation of the Organizational Portfolio Office – acting as regional leader for all agreed organizational initiatives. In some cases, you will also be responsible for managing the delivery of projects in the region.

You will work with peers and colleagues around the globe to ensure the portfolio delivers the strategic objectives set by Save the Children Leadership Team.

To be successful in this role, you will bring proven experience in managing portfolios of projects with international reach and you will also have hands-on project management expertise. P3O and/or Management of Portfolio foundation certification is important, as well as Prince 2, PMP or similar project management certification.

You will also be a natural leader, with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, a collaborative approach, strong results orientation and outstanding attention to detail.

English language is essential for this role, and a second language (preferably French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic) would be highly beneficial.

Experience of working in an International NGO would be advantageous, but is not essential as we hire many people from outside the sector whose values align with ours.

This role has a competitive package in the context of the sector, and will be based within a Save the Children International office in our East & Southern Africa region.  You will be required to travel to other offices within the region.

The organisation: Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organisation for children. We save children’s lives; we fight for their rights; we help them fulfil their potential. We work in over 120 countries to achieve immediate and lasting change.
