Job Summary: Implementing general underwriting strategy to achieve profitability and specific departmental goals in line with overall departmental objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Proposing amendments of the section’s standard operating procedures
- Ensuring that all policies/risks that have been ACCEPTED are compliant to the reinsurance treaty programmes, Regulator’s guidelines and company underwriting guidelines.
- Approving and confirming cover up to set limits
- Analyzing and approving quotations including as per set limits.
- Appointing risk surveyors in line with company guidelines
- Recommending, approving and signing of underwriting documents i.e. policy documents, endorsements up to set limits
- Preparing and Analyzing underwriting reports and making recommendations
- Managing usage and replenishment of security documents through declaration and stock levels.
- Monitoring Premium Finance process and Bank refund on default
- Recommending renewal terms and compiling renewal reports
- Raising service providers payment requisitions
- Allowing premium discount as per guidelines
- Identifying, implementing and benchmarking best practices in management
- Ensuring customer service to both internal and external clients by providing required underwriting documents and services
- Managing and implementing change initiatives to achieve desired business plans and culture
- Implementing underwriting related company communication
- Talent management including coaching, mentoring, developing, training and evaluating staff in the underwriting department to achieve highest level of performance
