Senior Academic Officer Job in Kenya

Our Client, a leading creative Media and Technology Institution seeks to recruit a Senior Academic Officer who will be responsible for management, administration and delivery of all academic programs and services to ensure that they are accomplished in an effective and efficient manner and within all policy and procedural guidelines.

Core Functions: 

1. Corporate Governance
  • Be the key technical resource to the Board on academic affairs
  • Support board meetings, budgeting and strategic planning processes
  • Maintain up-to-date information on competitors’ offerings and market share


2. Pedagogy
  • Oversee curriculum development and periodic review
  • Lead quality control for all aspects of teaching, assessment and placement
  • Assess feasibility and economics for introduction of new courses
  • Scope and resource new course offerings, including professional education (master classes, etc.)
3. Administration
  • Coordinate all administration from admission through graduation and placement
  • Oversee and track all aspects of learning and assessment
  • Manage course resourcing, including timetabling as well as space and equipment allocation
  • Identify student and faculty facility and equipment needs and initiate procurement
  • Mobilize external resources to equip labs, classrooms, studios and libraries
4. Partnerships
  • Identify and approach academic and vocational partners worldwide for partnership, across college and for specific programs and initiatives
  • Support negotiations for articulation and partnership agreements
5. Faculty recruitment, welfare, development & assessment
  • Advise board on professionalization of faculty, including welfare matters
  • Administer the Faculty Handbook, including serving on disciplinary panels
  • Develop templates and processes for faculty evaluation and progression
  • Institute rigorous criteria for recruitment, upskilling and oversight of faculty
  • Continuously seek out opportunities for exposure and exchange for faculty
6. Digital Classroom
  • Understand and articulate key elements of best global practice in digital education
  • Lead digitization of curriculum into teaching and student materials
  • Support integration of ERP alongside e-learning platforms and e-libraries
  • Lead progressive implementation of the Institution Online
7. Advocacy
  • Define policy advocacy agenda for the Institution
  • Serve as key point-person for the Institution at KEPSA on TVET issues
  • Attend meetings, draft memos and position papers on issues such as access to HELB for TVETA students, prompt and transparent accreditation, etc.
  • Masters in Education
  • Experience of 6+ years as an Academics lead
  • Understanding of Curriculum Development
  • A great coach for teachers who are transitioning from Analog to Digital
  • Experience in Partnership Management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
