Logistics Industry Business Development Manager Job in Kenya

We are a leading player in the logistics industry in Kenya and are looking for an experienced, results-oriented and energetic individual for the following position:
Business Development Manager
Job Summary: The job holder shall be required to identify new business opportunities and through developing existing and new business accounts, maintain an active new business prospect listing to approach and present to the company, undertake new business sales calls to win new business, develop financial supporting data and process data to potential and existing business wins and also be responsible for maintaining the existing customer database through regular sales visits.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Developing new business for the company through approaching new business customers
  • Develop new business prospect listings to ensure that future new business development is planned in advance
  • Responsible for the management and handling of the RFQ response documents coming to the company
  • Generating and distributing regular, periodic and ad hoc reports as required
  • Coordinating and following up of cross-selling activities within the organization
  • Maintaining close working relationships with various internal customers
  • Focusing on developing and growing the profitability of the business.
  • Developing and maintaining CAPEX procedures as per policy for RFQ and new business submissions
  • Maintaining and managing financial forecasts and cost module projections for new business submissions
  • Working with relevant parties for the development of Resources Planning
  • Undertaking regional presentations for the company
  • Undertaking cross-selling and up-selling activities within the existing customer base to further develop account potential
  • Managing and coordinating all commercial activities of defined vertical groups of customers with the customer service team, in line with the company’s targets and objectives
  • Representing the company and its policies to the clients
  • Developing SOP’s for key accounts in association with relevant internal stakeholders
  • Detailing all processes, rate structure, capturing of customer identified KPI’s
  • Undertaking sales presentations to customers and business communities to represent the company and its products and services
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred (Or an equivalent combination of work and education / equivalent combination of work experience)
  • Minimum five years logistics industry experience preferred
  • Commercial mind-set
  • Strong customer service, communication and presentation skills
  • Analytical skills to review both financial and operational data
  • Proven Negotiation Skills complied with the ability to close business wins
  • Customer oriented & team player
  • Able to use MS office, PowerPoint, Excel and some other PC applications
  • Able to work under pressure where needed
  • Able to travel both internal and abroad
  • Good time management techniques
  • Good understanding of financial planning
  • Excellent reporting abilities
