Monthly Salary: USD $3,000- 3,100
Reports to: Director of Strategy and Marketing

Composed of an experienced team of healthcare professionals, software developers, and social entrepreneurs, the company aims to strengthen the patient-provider relationship through practical, affordable, and usable technology solutions. 


Our client develops tailored software solutions to meet local needs. With offices in Kampala, Nairobi, Accra, Lagos and Denver, and is growing throughout sub-Saharan Africa. 

We are seeking to recruit a Marketing Manager, Africa to enhance and enrich the position and image of the organization throughout Africa. 

The Marketing Manager will work under the direction of the Director of Strategy and Marketing to develop, execute and analyze marketing strategies and activities. 
The marketing manager will manage internal staff, external contractors, and a wide range of activities related to marketing, advertising and promotion.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

  • Drive marketing plans and objectives and help to create and refine company marketing strategy.   
  • Develop marketing plans and projects for new and existing products
  • Recommend changes to marketing and sales strategies based on analysis and feedback
Market Research
  • Lead market research efforts to direct marketing efforts as well as to inform sales and business development.
  • Gather and analyze customer insights, market conditions and competitor information
  • Identify market trends, industry best practices and challenges
  • Create forecasts and customer segmentation
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop pricing strategies and promotions
Material Development
  • Oversee the full process of development of marketing materials from the conception to design to content generation to execution and release.
  • Oversee creation and delivery of press releases, advertisements, and other marketing materials in local and regional markets
  • Support and generate content across media platforms
  • Engage consumers on social media
  • Create media contact lists for countries and regions
  • Ensure branding is consistent
Targeted Outreach
  • Manage local and regional BTL marketing efforts, including organizing targeted events and preparing materials for conferences or specific venues. 
  • Organize events for key stakeholders or targeted outreach alongside sales team
  • Develop marketing and communication materials for specific venues including conferences, roadshows, important meetings, health clinics, and more
  • Create and execute plans for targeted distribution of materials including brochures, posters or pull up banners at points of sale or areas of interest
  • Use traditional and emerging marketing channels and be familiar with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies
Marketing Budget Management
  • Create marketing budgets and track marketing expenses, metrics and return on investment. 
  • Work with executives to determine budgets and targets
  • Deliver marketing activity within agreed budget
  • Monitor, review and report on all marketing activity and results against key performance metrics
  • Help drive company profitability, results, and customer acquisition
Personnel Management
  • Lead a marketing team that will develop and execute new concepts, business models, channels and partners to position business as innovator and leader.
  • Manage and coordinate marketing and creative staff
  • Source and liaise with local and regional media organizations, advertising agencies, and marketing related contractors
  • Deepen relationships with media to ensure the most effective messaging and positioning of the organization
Required Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated success meeting budgets and deadlines
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively
  • Proven attention to detail while managing multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated success establishing collaborative relationships across various working groups, projects, stakeholders, countries and time zones
  • Deep knowledge and contacts in the marketing field
  • Ability to live in Nairobi and travel up to 20% time
  • Preferred: Strategic and organized yet adaptable and innovative; experience in health or technology
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related field plus a minimum of five years of experience in marketing and advertising preferably with experience in health or technology campaigns.
  • Experience developing and overseeing marketing strategies and campaigns regionally. 
  • Experience working with a marketing agency is an added advantage. 
  • Strong analytical skills & knowledge of media management tools and marketing procedures. 
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with a creative mindset.
