Trainer and Alumni Communities Coordinator
 
Future First Kenya’s mission is to equip young people with the support they need to succeed by engaging former students now in the world of work as role models and Mentors.

While Kenyan schools are under-resourced, our experience and research proves that alumni are a vast, and largely untapped, resource which can support young people in successfully transitioning from school into work through inspiration and guidance, mentoring and e-mentoring, work experience and more.
 

 

Future First has now developed a world-class training programme for Alumni Network leaders based on global research across 30 countries that explores the fundamental aspects of alumni community building, and how to get there.
 
The training has factored feedback from existing alumni networks in Kenya and features basic structures around how to establish, build and mobilise networks are common throughout.  
The training is interactive and includes the co-creation of a strategy between international alumni experts, as trainers, and local practitioners.

We are looking to recruit a full-time Trainer to join us staring August 2016.

Primary Responsibilities
 
Alumni Training
  • Market available training opportunities to alumni and alumni groups and provide necessary information about the training.
  • Map out training plans, logistics and manage delivery of the training.
  • Develop, establish, manage, monitor and review training support.
  • Collaborate with remote colleague on curriculum design and training support.
Alumni Community Building
  • Building strong working relationships with participating alumni ,alumni associations & schools
  • Facilitating meet ups, careers events and other activities involving alumni & students
  • Maintaining regular contact with alumni via email and phone; ensuring that they have the support, materials and practical help that they need to make the most of their alumni network Initiating recruitment of alumni to the network through social media and local community outreach
  • Finding innovative ways to help alumni Association to actively to get involved in their alumni networks.
  • Performance of such other duties in line with Future First work in Kenya.
Person Description: We understand that candidates may not tick all the boxes we are looking for, and may not yet be alumni experts (we will help with that part). 
Most importantly, we need someone who ‘gets’ what we are doing and has considerable comparable experience to convince us that they can add significant value to this organisation. 

Ideally, we would look for someone with:
  • Proven working experience as a training manager
  • Track record in designing and executing successful training programs
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Strong report writing and record keeping ability
  • Good computer and database skills
