KenInvest General Manager, Legal & Corporate Services Job in Nairobi Kenya

The Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest), the successor organization of the former Investment Promotion Centre (IPC) was created by the Investment Promotion Act 2004. 
The Authority’s mandate is to promote and facilitate investment for both domestic and international investors. 
The Authority is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the following position:-

Job Title: General Manager, Legal & Corporate Services 


Reports to: Managing Director 
Division / Section / Unit: Legal & Corporate Services 
Responsible for:
  • Manager, Legal Services
  • Corporate Affairs Officer (s) 
Location: Head Office Nairobi 
Job Purpose: To ensure protection of KenInvest against legal risks and enhance a positive corporate image of KenInvest to investors, customers and stakeholders 
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Taking and keeping custody of minutes of Board meetings ensuring that the Board receives relevant information on time;
  • Overseeing the legal function by regularly advising Board and Management on legal issues professionally;
  • Ensuring provision of quality legal and corporate secretarial services by liaising with the Attorney General Chambers and other parties;
  • Formulating, reviewing and following up on the Authority’s legal policies, contracts, Memorandums of Understanding and all other legal documents;
  • Ensuring contracts, agreements, treaties entered into are properly drawn and are in the best interest of the organization;
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal requirements by the Authority;
  • Being in charge of public relations and customer relations at the Authority;
  • Providing strategic guidelines and leadership in developing Public Relations and Communication Strategy; and Coordinating the Authority’s stakeholder consultations including public events, exhibitions, etc;
  • Advising the Authority on communication matters and acting as a link between the media, key stakeholders , the Government, etc;
  • Producing promotional and communication resource packages;
  • Producing a steady flow of written and photographic resources on investors;
  • Instilling corporate governance ethos and principles in all departments of the Authority including by spearheading implementation of Mwongozo;
  • Developing/reviewing the Authority’s Service Charter and Corporate Governance protocols;
  • Conducting research on legal issues falling within the Authority’s mandate;
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Job Specification: 
Education and Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree from an accredited University with an emphasis in Social Sciences, Public Administration/Commerce/ Humanities or in a related field;
  • Minimum of 5 years post admission experience in legal practice with focus on human rights, labour related litigations, equality and inclusiveness;
  • Certified Company Secretary (CPS) (K). Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years working experience with at least 7 years in a senior management position;
  • Excellent management and organizational skills in a public/private organizations in Corporate Governance and Administration;
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of National goals, policies and development objectives as in Kenya Vision 2030;
  • Conversant with public sector reform or corporate change management;
  • Demonstrated professional competence and administrative ability as shown in work performance and results in a challenging environment;
  • Meets all the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya;
  • Well-developed communications, interpersonal and motivational skills;
  • High level of computer literacy and applications; and
  • An advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
