The “Shifting Allegiances” Project is seeking applicants for qualified enumerators to carry out a survey among Nairobi citizens August 1 – 6, 2016. 


The project will evaluate several hundred community members in their social networks, economic ties, and spiritual beliefs to assess the varied strategies citizens use to guard their ties to rural communities as well as to create new urban networks.

Survey enumerators will receive 2 days of training by the project Principal Investigators, Amanda Lea Robinson (Ohio State University) and Rachel Beatty Riedl (Northwestern University). 
The training will be held August 1 – 2. Researchers on the project will work closely with the PIs and a survey field manager to collect the data across neighborhoods in Nairobi. 
Enumerators will be paid 2,000 KES/day, for a total of 12,000 KES.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:
  • University degree in economics, social sciences, public policy, public health, or related fields.
  • Fluency and excellent communication skills in English.
  • Flexible, self-motivating, ability to interact with multiple types of people, and a team player.
  • Preferred but not required: Experience conducting survey or field research.
