Agronomist Job in Kenya (223K)

Vacancy: Agronomist
(2 Years Contract)
Our client is a leading social enterprise operating in the livestock sector in Kenya with the aim of revolutionizing the provision of livestock and veterinary services to pastoralists and farmers in Kenya by creating a more sustainable service delivery model.

With over 4 year’s business presence in Kenya and with over 85 franchises and 95 outlets all over the country, they are looking to hire a proactive and dynamic professional to join their team as an Agronomist. 


The role will entail considerable traveling (80% traveling)
Job Purpose / Summary: To ensure that the highest technical standards in crop management are known and promoted at all levels within the organization to achieve great results for the company’s esteemed customers. 
The role will provide technical expertise in soil and crop production under the company’s academy output.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare technical and business training materials for use on various training platforms
  • Train company employees, franchisees staff, farmers in crop production.
  • Give input for the product development.
  • Flow market trends that will guide in positioning the business.
  • Liaise with the Training Content writer & Online Training Manager in developing the training contents.
  • Review research and literature relating to current discoveries in the field.
  • Consult with farmers on cropping practices to increase their economic return.
  • Create and deploy fertilizer programs to meet the needs of the crop and land.
  • Participate in training activities.
  • Improve agronomy knowledge in the business.
  • Provide technical backstopping to the company.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture with emphasis on agronomy, crop, weed management, agribusiness or other agriculture science course work.
  • Practical experience in agriculture crop consulting is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of fertilizer and pest control management.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in a similar field highly desirable.
  • Ability to collect and analyze field data.
  • Report writing skill

  • Good diagnostic and decision making skills
  • Desire to serve farmers and others involved in the agriculture industry.

Salary budget: Kshs. 200, 317 – 223, 883 Basic Pay
