Medecins Sans Frontieres Belgium NGO Vacancies in Embu County

Medecins Sans Frontieres Belgium is looking to fill the following positions on fixed term (extendable) contract for our Kenya mission, based in Embu County.

Summary: In collaboration with the Embu County, MSF aims to develop models of care which can assist integrate NCD management into the primary health care facilities within Embu.

1) Job Title: NCDs Activity Manager

(1 Position)

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Project Medical Referent (PMR) and s/he will perform the following tasks, among others:-

  • Implement the mentorship programme and ensure correct use of NCD toolkits
  • Overall daily management and supervision of the mentors and mentoring activities
  • Active participation in the project planning, budgeting and reporting

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Registered Clinical Officer with a Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery

Experience: Minimum working experience of 3 years in a primary health care setting; at least 2 years MSF experience as a supervisor or activity manager; Knowledge in mentoring is an added advantage.

Skills / Competences: Flexible; diplomatic; cultural sensitive; result oriented; proactive; attentive to details organized; team player; stress management; excellent communication & reporting skills; computer literate

Language: Proficiency in written and oral English & Swahili.

2) Job Title: Deputy Project Coordinator

(1 Position)

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Project Coordinator (PC) and s/he will perform the following tasks, among others:-

  • Support the PC and the PMR in assessing and implementing the NCD project strategy
  • Be the focal contact person with the relevant counterparts in Embu county
  • Supervise the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the mentoring programme
  • Active participation in the project planning, budgeting and reporting

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Registered Clinical Officer or Nurse with a Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery or Nursing

Experience: Minimum working experience of 2 years in a primary health care setting within MSF as a supervisor, activity manager or coordinator; experience in management of NCDs is an asset; good knowledge of the Kenyan devolution system.

Language: Proficiency in written and oral English & Swahili.

3) Job Title: Nurse Mentor

(4 Positions)

The successful candidate will be reporting to the NCD Activity Manager and s/he will perform the following tasks, among others:-

  • Support the NCD Activity Manager in setting up the mentorship programme
  • Mentor nurses on the management of NCDs
  • Ensure medical & nursing consultations for patients in accordance with MSF protocols
  • Data management and reporting on NCDs activities in the MSF supported health facilities

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Registered Nurse with a Diploma in Nursing

Experience: Minimum working experience of 3 years in a primary health care setting; experience in management of NCDs is an asset; Knowledge in mentoring and MSF/ INGO experience is an added advantage

Skills / Competences: Flexible; diplomatic; cultural sensitive; result oriented; attentive to details; organized; team player; good communication & reporting skills; stress management; computer literate

Language: Proficiency in written and oral English & Swahili.

4) Job Title: Clinical Officer Mentor

(4 Positions)

The successful candidate will be reporting to the NCD Activity Manager and s/he will perform the following tasks, among others:-

  • Support the NCD Activity Manager in setting up the mentorship programme
  • Mentor clinical officers on the management of NCDs
  • Ensure medical consultations for patients is provided in accordance with MSF protocols
  • Data management and reporting on NCDs activities in the MSF supported health facilities

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Registered Clinical Officer with a Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery

Experience: Minimum working experience of 3 years in a primary health care setting; experience in management of NCDs is an asset; Knowledge in mentoring and MSF/ INGO experience is an added advantage

5) Job Title: Health Promotion / Patient Support Mentor

(3 Positions)

The successful candidate will be reporting to the NCD Activity Manager and s/he will perform the following tasks, among others:-

  • Support the NCD Activity Manager in setting up the mentorship programme
  • Mentor the respective county staff on health education/ promotion on NCDs related topics
  • Support the clinic in-charge to organize PS activities at the respective health facility
  • Participate in identification and implementation of community based NCDs activities

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Minimum of a Diploma in Counselling, Social work or Nutrition

Experience: Minimum working experience of 3 years in a primary health care setting; experience in management of NCDs is an asset; Knowledge in mentoring and MSF/ INGO experience is an added advantage

Skills/ Competences: Flexible; diplomatic; cultural sensitive; result oriented; organized; team player; good communication & reporting skills; stress management; computer literate

Language: Proficiency in written and oral English & Swahili. Other local language(s) is an asset.

6) Job Title: Logistics Assistant

(1 Position)

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Logistics Manager and s/he will perform the following tasks, among others:-

  • Supervise, control and monitoring the installation, construction and renovation works within the project
  • Provide technical assistant and logistics needs to the medical team
  • Ensure motor vehicle maintenance, safety and security of the staff according to MSF standards and supervise the drivers

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Diploma in Logistics or related studies

Experience: Minimum working experience of 2 years in a similar position; NGO experience is an added advantage

Skills / Competences: Flexible; cultural sensitive; result oriented; organized; team player; good communication & reporting skills; stress management

Language: Proficiency in written and oral English & Swahili. Other local language(s) is an asset.
