Job Title: Mechanical & Hydraulic Technician

Nature and Scope

  • Maintenance of all mechanical plant units
  • Maintenance of hydraulic units (Centrifuges and mobile plants) Maintenance of dredges
  • Record and report writing of works carried out and modifications
  • Must train co – workers in section
  • Monitor and follow up with stores team through restocking of service parts for plant units
  • Routine monitoring and plant round inspections of hydraulic units
  • Shall work extra – ordinary hours on need basis

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Extensive hydraulic and technical experience in open and closed hydraulic systems
  • Proven ability in hydraulic system maintenance and condition monitoring
  • Highly skilled technical and mechanical ability with proficiency in use of all hand tools, machinery, diagnostic and performance testing equipment associated with hydraulic servicing
  • Experience with hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinder rebuilding, hoses and pipe assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, symbols, abbreviation and drawings
  • Proven ability to diagnose defects on heavy duty hydraulic equipment
  • Ensure safety at work place for self and others

Qualifications

  • Diploma / Certificate in Mechanical / Production Engineering or Government Trade Test
  • 3 years’ work experience in mechanical plant and hydraulic maintenance
