Re: Nominees of COTU (K) to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission

Pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 Article 230 (b) and the Salaries and Remuneration Commission Act 2011 Section 5(2), the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU K) hereby invites applications from suitably qualified persons to be nominated to represent COTU (K) in the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
Such a person should:
a) be a holder of a degree from a University recognized in Kenya
b) has knowledge and at lease (10) ten years’ experience in either:
I. Industrial Relations Practice
II. Labour Laws
IV. Finance and Administration
V. Public Management
VI. Human Resource Management; or. Labour Laws
VII. Distinguished career in the trade union movement for over 10 years
2. Meets the requirement of Chapter (6) of the Constitution and has had a distinguished career preferably within the Labour Sector.
3. A person shall not be qualified for nomination if the person:
I. Is a member of parliament of County Assembly
II. A member of a Governing Body of a Political Party
III. Is a member of parliament or senate
IV. Is a un-discharged bankrupt; or
V. Has been removed from Office for contravening the provisions of any Law
The Core Mandate of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission is to:
1. Set and regularly review the remuneration and benefits of all state officers; and
2. Advise the National and County Governments on the remuneration and benefits of all other public officers.
