Job Title: Project Manager / Field Representative

World Concern is seeking to fill the position of Project Manager/Field Representative to be based in Aru, Ituri Province of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The position reports to the Africa Area Director and the contract is for one year but renewable. The person will provide leadership and management of an integrated project that covers Church engagement, education and child protection, water and sanitation, food security and livelihoods.

He/She will be responsible for day to day technical and operational support to the project and build the capacity of World Concern local partner in implementing sustainable community development using World Concern’s transformation development model.

The candidate will be required to undertake the following responsibilities:

Program Management: Oversee setting up and implementation of new projects; prudently manage World Concern resources and supervise project staff; write and submit timely high quality reports; maintain best working relationship with local partners and government; monitor political and security situations in project areas and ensure appropriate security procedures are adhered to by all; lead and manage field donors’ visits ensuring seamless flow of information before, during and after the visits; conduct community training; and, maintain regular communication with the regional and HQ offices as required.

Program Development and Fund Raising: Be able to write clear, concise proposals for funding; proactively seek opportunities for partnerships and project funding from in-country donors and partners; develop innovative ideas and solutions to community development challenges; represent World Concern in relevant platforms, networks, joint assessments, coordination and cluster forums as needed; coordinate with the regional office for timely monitoring & evaluation activities; and, network and partner with other agencies to enhance sharing of ideas and resources.

Jobs in Kenya 2018Financial Management and donor compliance: Responsible for budgeting, monitoring and control of project expenses; ensuring accountability, value for money in all project activities, and prudence in handling donor resources; and, enforcing adherence to World Concern procurement and logistics policies and procedures.

Staff Development: Take lead in recruitment and orientation of projects staff and volunteers; supervise staff to ensure smooth implementation of project activities; train local staff in transformational development; provide a positive witness of Jesus Christ and foster the same to staff and beneficiaries; promote staff spiritual growth and an attitude of “being like Christ” through intentional and deliberate spiritual development plans and discipleship activities; integrate spiritual development activities in all World Concern’s work; and, embed World Concern mission, core values, and ethos in all activities.
