NGOs Coordination Board
The NGOs Co-ordination Board is a State Corporation established under section 3 of the NGOs Co-ordination Act, 1990 with the mandate to register, co-ordinate and regulate all charitable organisations in Kenya.
The Board wishes to recruit for the following position:
Vacancy: Executive Director / CEO
Job Description: The Executive Director / Chief Executive Officer of the NGO Coordination Board will be responsible to the Board for overall planning, directing, controlling and coordinating the Board’s activities.
Specific duties and responsibilities will entail;
(i) Carrying out the day to day business of the Board;
(ii) Developing and recommending to the Board the long term strategy, strategic plan, and annual operating budgets;
(iii) Coordinating and preparing Board policy proposals, reports and other submissions for consideration by the Board;
(iv) Establishing proper internal monitoring and control systems and procedures;
(v) Facilitating effective communication between the management and the Board and also between different levels of management;
(vi) Providing leadership and policy direction;
(vii) Convening Board’s meetings in consultation with the Chairperson;
(viii) Attending to personnel matter including organizational structures, appointments, welfare, training, industrial relations, and effective management succession plans;
(ix) Ensuring continuous improvements in the quality and value of services offered by the NGOs Co-ordination Board;
(x) Ensuring continuous achievements of the Boards financial and operating goals and objectives;
(xi) Overseeing and ensuring implementation of corporate policies and programs;
(xii) Ensuring compliance with the laws of the country in the regulations of NGOs;
(xiii) Ensuring Board’s decisions are implemented and reported on time; and
(xiv) Overseeing administration, supervision, management of staff and other resources of the Board.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
(i) relevant working experience of at least Fifteen (15) years with a minimum of five (5) years in a senior management and leadership position in a large public or private organization;
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or Business related field from a recognized institution;
(iii) Master’s degree in social sciences or Business related disciplines from a recognized institution;
(iv) Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Program or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(v) Meets the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya;
(vi) Proven leadership qualities, problem solving and negotiation skills, excel-lent team building and organizational skills and evidence of being a strong team player; and
(vii) Demonstrated a thorough understanding of national goals, policies and development objectives, and ability to translate them into NGOs Coordination Board policies, programs and projects.
Candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on leadership and Integrity and are thus required to submit clearance certificates from the following institutions together with the job application:
1. Kenya Revenue Authority, KRA
2. Higher Education Loans Board, HELB
3. Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, EACC
4. Certificate of Good Conduct from Criminal Investigations Department, CID
The Chief Executive Officer shall report to the Board of Director and shall hold the office for a term of three (3) years and shall be eligible for a reappointment for one further term subject to satisfactory performance and appraisal by the Board of Directors.
