Finance Manager Job in Thika, Kenya – Multinational Seedlings Company

Role: Our Client, a small-sized multinational dealing with supply and processing of seedlings for large farms, seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced Finance Manager based near Thika, Kenya.

Reporting and Management

a. Responsible for preparing monthly reporting packs, which includes debtors, inventory, fixed assets and project accounting records for both revenue and capital expenditure, ensuring the reports are produced in a timely manner and in accordance with Head Office timetable.

b. Review the processes and procedures of the Accountancy section regularly to ensure these are current, relevant and meet the needs of the service and service users

c. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the financial management system and controls including keeping up do date approved revenue and capital budgets.

d. Supervise, manage and direct staff within the Finance Department.

e. Lead treasury management and cash flow activities.

f. Support Country Manager in reviewing procedures and ensuring sufficient and appropriate controls are in place.

g. Assist in the development and implementation of Information Technology systems and procedures.

h. Support Country Manager with managing and driving business growth.

Daily Functions

a. Responsible for ensuring the bank accounts of the company are monitored and updated daily

b. Preparation of payments to suppliers after verifying invoices

c. Management of accounts receivable and helping with debt collection from customers including site visits if necessary

d. Management and reporting of stock levels, stock holdings and ageing

e. Lead on VAT and all statutory and tax functions and ensure relevant returns are submitted on a timely basis

f. Preparation of the annual statement of accounts in accordance with agreed timescales ensuring the statement complies with Head Office guidance and that all working papers are complete and satisfactory for the requirements of the annual external audit.

Qualifications & Experience

a. Must be a qualified Accountant with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience

b. Have track record of reporting based on international standards

c. Must have experience in dealing with Biological assets

d. Experience using an ERP software and have a high level of IT skills especially MS Excel. SUN systems experience would be advantageous

e. Good analytical skills

f. High level of integrity

g. Self-starter and be able to manage the finance function and lead a small team

h. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with all levels of staff and management

i. High level of adaptability and flexibility and the capability to learn and adapt to changing environment

j. Hands-on approach
