Quality Controller Job in Thika, Kenya – Paper and Plastics Manufacturer

Our client is a leading paper packaging and rigid plastics manufacturing factory whose products cater for multiple industries in various applications both for local consumption and export.

They produce a wide spectrum of high quality paper bags & paper sacks and a wide variety of high quality plastic injection molded items.

Job Title: Quality Controller

Position Reports to: Operations Manager

Purpose of the Role: To coordinate all activities required to direct and control manufacturing quality. In particular, to review product quality requirements for individual and corporate clients so as to ensure the requirements are understood and implemented to manage the quality of the manufactured products as per the contract specifications

Goal: To ensure Client’s Contract specifications are met

Direct Report: Machine Operators

Location: Thika – Industrial Area

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide reliable assistance in carrying out Quality Control functions.
  • Discard or reject products and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Inspect, test and sample materials, products and equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make or order necessary process adjustments.
  • Visit the factory floor to take samples of products and to discuss problems with production manager.
  • To ensure ISO systems and procedures are strictly observed and adhered to in every functional unit/department.
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for production and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Inspect products purchased by the company from suppliers and maintain records of supplier performance.
  • Meet with production leaders to work out root cause of the problem and to decide whether current processes need to be changed.

Academic Qualifications

  • B.Sc. Degree in quality control


  • 3-5 years’ hands-on experience in manufacturing industry.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of Quality Control and standard procedures.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety & Hygiene
  • Conversant with ISO standards and implementation
  • Knowledge in dealing with raw materials.
  • Understand the dynamics of production processes.
  • Understanding of the manufacturing industry is an added advantage.
  • IT and report writing skills.

The Salary range is 60 – 80K gross per month.
