Job Vacancy: Sales Manager – Fresh Produce

Job Purpose: To be responsible for overseeing operations in Fresh Produce Sales.

This will include diversification, effective and efficient sourcing of quality fresh produce (fruits and vegetables) both locally and globally with single objective of profitably delighting consumers with quality fresh produce

Main Accountabilities of the Sales Manager Fresh Produce will include: –

  • Meeting or exceeding annual fresh produce plan goals including but not limited to Sales, Profitability and controlling costs
  • Seeking sales opportunities and generating new ideas in order to facilitate new Fresh Produce business.
  • Developing strong customer relationships with the objective of winning them in order to meet and exceed fresh produce sales objectives consistently and sustainably in line with the Annual Plan
  • Regulating product inventories to ensure minimum product loss and maximum product movement. Always seek alternative solutions to market short-outs at customer warehouse
  • Generating annual marketing plan to highlight future efforts to achieve sales goals
  • Managing channel/customer plans periodically by reviewing performance and revising course of action as may be needed
  • Monitoring and regulation of pricing of fresh produce on daily basis to ensure maximization of profit and minimization of loss based on prevailing market conditions
  • Managing accounts receivables as per agreed terms in order to meet order-to-cash cycle targets
  • Understanding the profit and loss statements value chain computation and pricing

Skill Requirements:

  • University degree in either Commerce, Economics or Business Administration (with bias in Marketing) or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in managing sales of fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Experience in managing sales in a fast paced perishable goods environment
  • Good understanding of Fresh fruits & vegetables Route to Market for different channels/customers and ability to effectively serve the consumer needs
  • Experience in Fresh Produce Logistics, Packing Houses and Distribution Centers
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written)
  • Excellent knowledge in MS Office packages
  • Well versed on key certifications and standards e.g. Global GAP
