Our client, in the logistics field is looking for a Financial Accountant.
Job Duties
- Ensure transactions are properly recorded in the computerized accounting system. This includes but not limited to creating invoices, purchase orders, sales invoices, payment vouchers etc.
- Review all financial commitments and payments for compliance and budget availability
- Confirm invoices against LPOs and contracts to ensure that Invoices are paid within the agreed timelines.
- Prepare all payments and invoices by entering them in the computerized system, writing cheques and initiating bank instructions
- Ensure Daily financial backup and financial interface (importing) of data from the accounting systems
- Ensure that the company complies with all tax obligations per month. This includes deduction and submission of WHT tax obligations
- Prepare journal summaries
- Withhold, remit and pay taxes due in a timely manner
- File all remittance documents with tax authorities as required by laws
- Ensure financial policies and procedures are followed
- Accurate and timely balance sheet schedules
- Imprest reconciliations
- Prepare and send management reports
- Reconciling all accounts remittance & Disbursements before invoicing
- File and maintain financial files and records
- Maintain, reconcile and advise on updating the general ledger
- Ensure proper custody of cheque books
- Assist the Chief Finance Officer to prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements
- Assist the Chief Finance Officer to prepare management accounts
- Assist with preparation of the company budget and consolidate budget
- Assist in updating the quarterly Key Performance Indicators for departments
- Assist in the budget revision as may be necessary
- Ensure accurate postings and accruals and ensure all are in line with budgets
- Monthly bank accounts reconciliations
- Prepare cash forecasts
- Ensure daily processing of imprest
- Ensure accurate daily postings of imprest requests
- Daily report on uncollected imprest requests
- Provide Imprest Reconciliations on weekly basis
- Provide any support required by the external auditors
- Assist the Chief Finance Officer respond to Audit queries
- Ensure daily Bank reconciliations
- Weekly receipt summary and banking
- Promptly send schedules to the Chief Finance Officer including all bank reconciliation at end of month.
- Ensure cash collected is banked on daily basis
- Ensure sequential filing of Vouchers as per Cheque No’s
- Ensure sequential filing of Banking instructions
- Leadership and Mentorship
Requirements
- Bachelor of Commerce in Finance/Accounting or any finance related course-MUST
- Certified Public Accountant CPA(K)- MUST
- At least 6 years’ experience, 2 of which should be as a Financial Accountant or senior accounting managerial role
- Knowledge of general bookkeeping procedures
- Knowledge of general accounting principals
- Proficient in relevant computer software and accounting systems
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
- Analytical and Audit skills
