Programme Tittle: Enhancing Community Based Adaptation to Climate Change III (2018-2020)  

Background information about INADES – Formation Kenya

INADES Formation is a member based pan African organization working in ten (10) African Countries viz Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Cote D’Ivoire, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Togo and DR Congo.

It was first started in Cote d’Ivoire on 1st January 1962 then it spread to the other countries.  It was then introduced in Kenya in 1978 and registered as a company limited by guarantee and in 1993 it was registered as Non-Governmental Organization.

Inades Formation Kenya has a mandate to work anywhere in Kenya in Social and Economic Development.

Background of the Baseline study

The Baseline survey is for a three-year programme for the period 2018 to 2020 funded by bread for the world- Germany.

Programme Summary

Programme Goal: To contribute to increased resilience to climate change and appropriate livelihoods development within the communities living in the arid and semi-arid zones of Machakos, Kitui and Makueni Counties.

The programme broad objectives are;

  1. Improved livelihoods of target communities through increase of agriculture and livestock productivity.
  2. Improved access to community owned and managed financial services.
  3. Increased knowledge and participation of target communities in advocacy and decision making processes.

The programme targets to benefit 5600 HHs with different projects within the three-year period under different objectives as highlighted in the table below:

The objectives of the baseline survey

This baseline survey will provide background information against which ECOBACC III programme interventions will be monitored and assessed.

The objectives of this baseline survey will seek to: 

  1. To ascertain the current levels of livelihood conditions among the target beneficiaries with regards to each objective area as stated above
  2. Establish both qualitative and quantitative baseline information for the indicators of which the programme will regularly measure the performance
  3. To gather necessary information regarding the situation and challenges on the ground to make appropriate implementation decisions to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and relevance of the programme.

3 Task description

3.1 Baseline survey scope

This baseline survey is expected to cover a total of 14 locations with each of the three broad objective areas.

3.2 Deliverables

Submit final report which shall be sub county specific within 2 weeks after the completion of survey

4 Requirements for Applicants

Interested candidates shall submit the following

  • Expression of interest in the assignment
  • A Technical proposal (maximum 2 pages)
  • A detailed budget including quotation for professional service daily rate(KES)
  • A detailed workplan indicating the total number of days for the assignment
  • A copy of current curriculum vitae
  • Interested candidates must be registered with the relevant authorities in Kenya and must have Tax compliance certificates
  • Candidates applying for this assignment must prove that they have contacted similar assignments in the past and must provide references.
