Sales Manager Job in Kenya

Our client is a leading FMCG manufacturer and distributor.

They are seeking to recruit a motivated and self-driven professional to fill in the following position;

Sales Manager

The National Sales Manager will be responsible for driving revenue generation and providing leadership and direction to the sales team.

Principal Accountabilities:

Sales Revenue Generation

  • Maximize sales revenue by ensuring distributor sales in targets are met.
  • Monitor stock levels both at distributor level and in the trade; also identifies gaps in the distribution chain and bring them to management attention for action.
  • Implement assigned action plans aimed at achieving sales and revenue targets.
  • Continually monitor own performance against and targets and take remedial action where required
  • Closely monitors distributors against anticipated sales revenue and ensures on-target performance is achieved

Implement sales and distribution activities in the territory

  • Co-ordinate the distribution of products within territory to ensure continuous availability
  • Manage the distribution of branding and promotion materials to enhance visibility and build consumer/dealer loyalty within the territory
  • Mobilize dealer staff to participate in the implementation of various trade promotions
  • Identify requirements for sampling promotions and recommends to the Marketing department
  • Implement and support promotional activities in the territory
  • Monitor competitor activity within the region and report with recommendations for action

Reporting

  • Maintain sales record and prepare detailed weekly, monthly and quarterly sales reports on the sales trends
  • Generates weekly reports on distributor and stores performance and stock level
  • Develop detailed market intelligence reports on competitor activities and counter plan
  • Prepare any other related report on the assigned region as requested

Team Leadership

  • Delegate tasks to direct reports and set performance targets
  • Monitor team performance and report on metrics and ensure all team members represent the company in the best light
  • Develop a strategy the team will use to reach its goal
  • Coach and mentor direct reports
  • Ensure periodic appraisal of the direct reports

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or relevant field.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in sales within the FMCG industry
  • Demonstrated record of revenue and profit growth and new business development experience
  • Strong commercial attitude with the ability to think strategically
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proven capability to provide useful insights and pragmatic solutions to business challenges
