Job Vacancy: Business Development Officer

Job Location: Garsen and Machakos

Key Duties and Responsibilities

This position’s core role is to provide business consultancy services to both start up and new micro enterprises.

The position is open in Garsen and Machakos.

Candidates are expected to indicate their preferred work location when applying.

BD Officer  will offer the following Consultancy services:

  1. Legal Advice: Support micro enterprises navigate the statutory, legal and regulatory spaces in the conduct of their business;
  2. Marketing advice: Support micro enterprises creating business plans with associated marketing and customer service strategies;
  3. Accounting and Finance advice: Support micro enterprises in book keeping, accounting, financial and tax management.

Broad job role:

I) Legal Tasks

a) Supporting micro enterprises in business registration, acquisition of trading licenses and Accessing Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO)

b) Support businesses draft business Contracts, apply for Patents etc;

c) Supporting businesses comply with regulatory bodies such as Kenya Bureau of Standards.

II) Marketing Tasks

a) Supporting businesses create Business plans;

b) Supports the businesses develop & implement both marketing and customer service strategies;

c) Where applicable, guide beneficiaries identify funding gap and apply for loan.

III) Accounting Tasks

a) Educate beneficiaries on the benefits of book keeping and accounting

b) Support beneficiaries create physical books of accounts;

c) Supporting the businesses in budgeting for their enterprises;

d) Conduct Loan administration post loan disbursement.

Education Background

a) 2nd Upper University degree on either Marketing, Accounting or Agribusiness (other professional courses will be an added advantage)

b) Proficiency in Ms Word, Excel and PowerPoint
