Assistant IT Administrator Job in Kenya

Our client, a professional services firm in Audit & Assurance, Tax, Advisory and Integrated Client Services seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced Assistant IT Administrator.

Job Purpose: This position serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for Business Information Systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Network Administration Services

  • Regular evaluation of current computer hardware/software.
  • Testing new programs before user installation and implementation.
  • Manages user access to, systems, servers, and files.
  • Administers the set-up of new profiles, creates and updates access permissions and maintains user accounts.
  • Monitors health of systems and provides appropriate recommendations.

2. Technical Support and Capacity Building

  • Guiding users systematically to trouble shoot systems and offering immediate and alternative solution to issues.
  • Providing technical support and trouble-shooting for installed servers, including implementation of disaster recovery plans.
  • Supervises the monitoring procedures and evaluates problems identified by team members.

3. System analysis, development, implementation and maintenance

  • Comfortable with Analysis of Business systems design, maintenance and manipulation.
  • Participating in the definition, designing, testing and implementation of new systems /hardware.

4. Inventory management& Maintenance

  • Maintaining software and hardware inventory.
  • Ensuring secure custody of equipment

5. Information Management

  • Coordinating the production of technical instruction materials for technical and user support and ensure the documentations are kept up to date.

6. Business continuity

  • Assists in the development of Business Continuity plans and disaster recovery plans as regards the firm.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Networking certifications e.g. CISCO
  • Virtual Systems Knowledge – Vmware
  • Knowledge and experience in management of Microsoft Enterprise Applications
  • Lotus Domino Administration and Management Proficiency

Experience

  • 2- 3 years working in a busy Information Systems Infrastructure
  • Systems Administration and Management
  • Hardware and software integration and maintenance
  • ERP configurations and administrations
  • Excellent technical knowledge of computer applications and systems
  • LAN and WAN management
