Contest for Design of Huduma Namba Logo

Logo Design Contest

The Government of Kenya (GoK) plans to develop a national biometric population database of all persons in the country through a mass registration exercise that will be rolled out soon.

As part of the branding and identity for the programme, the government wishes to develop a Logo through an open contest.

In this regard, the Government invites interested people to submit Logo design for the programme that may be used on all media including online, print, electronic, on merchandise and other visual collateral.

Official Rules

The following are the official contest rules.

i. To be eligible, entrant(s) must be Kenyan youth aged 35 years and below;

ii. Entries can be individual or team.

iii. Entrants should submit NOT more than two designs – both designs must be submitted under one entry.

iv. All submitted work must be the original work of the entrants.

v. Winning entries will become the property of the Ministry concerned;

vi. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees that any and all intellectual property rights in the Logo design are deemed assigned to the GoK. Winning entries shall be subjected to intellectual property protection.

vii. GoK reserves the right to modify the winning logo to better fit the needs of the progamme;

viii. The decision of the selection Committee will be final.

ix. The selected winner MUST submit a scalable vector version of the winning design so that it is adaptable to the electronic and print media, to reproduction on small and large surfaces and to use in colour or grey scale.

x. The logo must bear the tagline: Huduma Namba kwa Huduma Bora

xi. Contestants are encouraged to ensure the logo design bears colours of the national flag.

How to Enter

To enter the contest, eligible participants must;

  • Complete the official quotation form available on or or
  • Create a logo design .jpeg, .psd or PDF format (The winner MUST provide a high-resolution vector file such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or InDesign);

Submit your logo design, completed and scanned copies of quotation form, national ID and PIN certificate to and copy to by 10.00 AM on Tuesday, 27th November, 2018.

Selection Criteria

A selection committee will evaluate all entries based on the following criteria:

  • Originality – the composition exhibits original design, creativity and imagination.
  • Relevance – the entry aligned with the theme and goals of the biometric registration programme.
  • Aesthetic Quality – the submission commands attention, displays visual balance and colour coordination, all the elements work together to create a unified appealing design.


The winner will receive Ksh 300, 000, the runners up Ksh200,000 and the third winner Ksh100,000. If any of awarded designs was submitted by a team the award will be divided equally among the members. The selection committee reserves the right not to select a winner, if in its sole discretion no suitable entries were received.
