Chief People and Culture Officer

Our client a leading health care provider is seeking to recruit a Chief People and Culture Officer whose key responsibility is to build a state-of-the-art people department that will enable the organization to achieve the secondary vision which is to become the best employer in Africa.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fully understand the organization’s business needs and translate that understanding to the right strategy for people and culture department
  • Review and revise our culture and values appropriately to ensure they are fit for purpose
  • Work closely with senior managers across the organization to ensure optimal organizational structures to meet business objectives
  • Maintain a single company culture as we add new branches and scale
  • Design the key roles in the people department
  • Hire, manage, grow and inspire your team every day
  • Choose and implement key HRIS programs
  • Develop the HR budgeting process across the organization to ensure we constantly maintain excellent cost to revenue ratios
  • Strategically design a learning and development program to help employees achieve our growth goals
  • Create an employee engagement program that works for a large diverse team that is increasingly geographically spread
  • Manage our office and admin processes so that staff are effective in their jobs whether working from a branch, the support office, or in another country
  • Monitor industrial relations and employee relations developments to prevent and quickly resolve disputes
  • Drive the company efforts to recruit the top talent in Africa at the speed and scale that we need for our growth plans
  • Navigate a complicated regulatory setting for healthcare workers and general employment law
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of all your programs rigorously and make changes as appropriate

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related
  • Outstanding people management track record.
  • 10+ years working in people related departments (or other relevant experience)
  • 5+ years in a leadership role in a People related department
  • Energy and resilience
  • Willingness to travel all over Nairobi to our branches and all over Africa as we expand
