Position: Financial Accountant

Our Client, a Leading coffee chain with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya is urgently looking to recruit an experienced an experienced Financial Accountant.

He/she will perform the accounting for all transactions, processing of payments, completion of monthly financial statements, preparation of month end close, monitoring of budgets, provide support for additional operational needs and other matters by performing the following duties;

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To manage the account payable and receivable functions of the business. This should involve managing of document flow, regular review of ageing reports, ensuring smooth running of both functions and meeting all stakeholders expectation of collecting and payment of payment of company debts
  • To manage the statutory accounts production and compliance processes ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and deadlines. Manage year end audit
  • To manage the tax compliance processes ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and deadlines
  • To manage and develop finance processes to ensure that robust controls are in place in line with the requirements of the business which involves daily update and review of cash position of the company, to ensure the company is in a position to meet all its obligations cost effectively and timely
  • Responsibility for treasury management including administration of accounts and authorities which also involves regular review of sales & banking process, to institutionalize efficiency, manage and control all risks associated with cash management, addressing emerging risks in a timely manner and advancing innovation & use of technology in cash management & reconciliation
  • To work closely with the Procurement department to enhance and maintain the supplier relationship
  • To manage the entire General Ledger analysis to ensure completeness & accuracy of reported balances
  • To maintain and update of system’s ledgers to ensure integrity and compliance of new vendor’s information requirement
  • To review and approve payment vouchers to ensure the approved payments have met all procurement and receiving procedures
  • Team management, mentorship and training
  • To participate in successful implementation of the ERP
  • To ensure financial data security
  • Ad-hoc assistance to the Head of Finance

Key Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or any other related field from a recognized institution and CPA (K)
  • Must have at least 5 years proven experience as a Financial Accountant
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and ability to research, analyse, interpret, and apply technical accounting guidance
  • Report-writing software knowledge required
  • Ability to effectively communicate written and verbally to all levels of management and to external stakeholders
  • Results-oriented, detail-oriented, organized, able to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and willing to work beyond normal scheduled work hours as necessary
  • Ability to identify areas of operational improvement and provide implementation strategies to improve processes
  • Ability to think independently and provide useful and constructive feedback
  • Reliable, driven, self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of integrity and accuracy
