KenGen Senior Scientist / Officer (Clean Development Mechanism) Job in Kenya

Senior Scientist / Officer, Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) – Central Office

Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Scientist/Officer – CDM, the job holder will be responsible for identifying and promoting Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reduction projects, climate change and environmental sustainability concepts in relevant company operations, and collecting, analyzing and maintaining carbon assets database under strict proprietary control, participate in adaptation programs and periodical Greenhouse Gas Protocol and sustainable development auditing and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Environmental Sciences or any other environment related Physical Sciences or Environmental Engineering from a recognised institution.
  • Relevant professional qualifications and membership to Environmental / Climate Change related recognised association such as Environment institute of Kenya and NEMA practicing license is mandatory
  • Postgraduate MSc degree in Environmental Sciences/ Studies or Climate Change and policy studies will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of five (5) years working experience as an officer conducting and managing of CDM projects and climate change related issues as a CDM Scientist / Officer.

Additional Requirements

Candidates shortlisted for the interview for Manager and Chief Officer positions will be required to submit the following;

  1. Certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal investigations
  2. Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  3. Tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  4. Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
  5. Report from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
