Job Vacancy: Assistant Government and Community Relations Officer

Our systems-based approach to solving the sanitation crisis involves 3 critical steps: we build a dense network of high-quality sanitation facilities — Fresh Life Toilets — franchised to residents in the community.
We collect the waste regularly and safely remove it from the community.
Finally, we convert the waste into valuable agricultural inputs, which we sell to Kenyan farmers.
We are looking for an Assistant Government and Community Relations Officer who will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations in the communities that we serve.
Key duties and responsibilities
Establish, network and maintain continuous relationships with area location leadership (chief, assistant chief, village elders) in designated area of operation
Establish, network and maintain continuous relationships with ward administration (ward administrator and ward departmental officials) in designated area of operation
Establish, network and maintain continuous relationships with informal community groups in organization’s areas of operation
Collaborate with focal, influential persons within these groups, maintaining constant contact with them and keeping comprehensive records of the same
Actively plan, participate and attend public participation forums, meetings and activities, community barazas, forums and discussions held by such interest groups to lobby for organization’s interests
Facilitate opportunities and strategies for raising concerns and possible conflicts outside the network, with possible practical solutions to resolve such conflicts
Providing information, advice and client support during pre-installation through to post-installation, in regards to challenges arising from such interest groups
Liaising with the Assistant Manager, Operations, Government and Community Relations on all issues that touch on the general operations of the field
Ensure proper e-filing of secured company’s Dropbox folders and Google Drive. Handle the team’s scheduling of meetings, event planning and logistical requirements
Carry out any other duties as may be called upon from time to time

Skills and qualifications you will need
Degree in Business Administration or Social Sciences related to community work and policy related disciplines
Computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),
Good coordination skills and ability to Multi-task.
Well-developed written, oral, interpersonal, negotiation, conflict resolution and communication skills with a high degree of sensitivity for confidentiality
Able to take a proactive approach on projects and work with minimal supervision
Discretion, tact and diplomacy
Minimum 3 years post graduate work experience that involved actively engaging Community gatekeepers in informal settlements, National and County governments in a social enterprise context
It would be desirable to have
Knowledge of Government Structures and County Government By-Laws
Proven experience in lobbying government and working with informal communities
Worked in compliance related environment
