Wildlife Conservancy Payable Accountant Job in Laikipia County, Kenya

Our client is a not-for-profit wildlife conservancy in Laikipia County.

The Conservancy works to conserve wildlife, provide a sanctuary for great apes and to generate income through wildlife tourism and complementary enterprises for re-investment in conservation and community development.

The conservancy is looking to fill the following vacancy

Accounts Payable Accountant

The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate and effective management of accounts payable ledgers in compliance with financial policies and procedures relating to all accounts payables.

Processing of accounting transactions, the operation of accounting systems controls and preparation of reports and reconciliations for review.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities;

  • Maintaining creditors book including posting of invoices, credit notes, allocation of receipts, dispatching of remittance advises and reconciliation of the statement to the Ledgers.
  • Preparation of the monthly age analysis and ensure reconciliation of creditor’s statements with the ledger to identify any variances.
  • Conducting appropriate written and telephonic correspondence and follow-ups with creditors regarding queries, dispute resolutions, remittances, and WHT certificates.
  • Preparation of payments on basis of due suppliers and getting approval from HOU/CFO for go ahead.
  • Following up for creditor statements, missing invoices and credit notes from suppliers for disputed items and prices as well as for wrong invoicing on a monthly basis.
  • Reconciliation of all intercompany creditor’s accounts.
  • Annual audit preparation.
  • Maintaining a proficient filing system for accounts payable records.
  • Any other duty given by the supervisor as and when required.


The job holder should have the following qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) Degree or related field / Professional accounting qualification i.e. CPA (K) or ACCA
  • Proficiency in Sunsystems and paymaster will be an added advantage.
  • Must have above 3 years’ experience in a busy working environment in a similar position

  • We are looking for a person with Good understanding of IFRS, local tax regulations and statutory financial accounting and reporting
  • He/she Must be detailed oriented and possess good communication skills.
  • Must have Good knowledge of relevant accounting systems and reporting tools.
