Job Opening: Transport and Stores Officer

Stonefield Company Limited (located in Awasi) whose core business is production and supply of construction materials including aggregate, paving blocks, building blocks and variety of precast
items is seeking to recruit a result oriented and self-motivated individual for the above position.

Duties shall include:

1. Transport/fleet management

  • Vehicles data base management.
  • Prepare fuel LPO and submit for approval prior to issuing.
  • Monitor and analyze vehicles fuel consumption -comparison of system and manual and reporting on the same weekly.
  • Monitoring vehicle movements through FMS system and report on any abnormalities (Idle, Geo-fence access, Speed, Fuel drops)
  • Ensure all vehicles legal requirements are up to date (insurance, inspection, DLs, speed governor, fire extinguishers, first aid kits e.t.c.)

2. Repairs and maintenance

  • Coordination of vehicle maintenance/repairs (internal & outsourced) in liaison with Head mechanic.
  • Facilitate filling of job cards for approval prior to repairs.
  • Raising LPOs for spare parts required for maintenance and coordinating purchases with purchasing personnel.
  • Follow up with suppliers/relevant persons to ensure prompt delivery of parts ordered.
  • Invoice verification for repairs/parts/labour charges
  • Ensure routine vehicle service and repairs are done as scheduled, verify service and parts fitted, and ensure documentation and reporting of parts returned.
  • Analyze tyres and recommend on best brands
  • Monitor warranties of spares installed to prevent repeat/wastages

3. Supervision

  • Facilitate induction & training for any new driver(s)
  • Scheduling and allocation of duties to drivers including offs and leave in liaison with the CRO and Accounts/Sales dept.
  • Handle all concerns and incidences pertaining to reportees
  • Quarterly evaluation of reportees
  • Supervise and ensure correct data entries on roadbase system
  • Hold weekly meetings with workshop dept. and monthly meetings with drivers

4. Store management

  • Supervision of stores clerk roles including store management, receipts, issues, storage/custody, documentation and stock taking.

Required Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Diploma in Logistics and Transport Management
  • A minimum of 2 years working experience in a similar or related role (preferably in a transport company or factory setting)
  • Proficiency in Computer Applications
  • Knowledge of machinery parts and vehicle related spares/parts is a plus
  • Excellent and effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good analytical and coordination ability
  • Must be proactive and be able to pay keen attention to the smallest of details.
  • A good team player and be able to motivate team members to ensure their full co-operation at all times.
  • Must be able to manage time effectively and also meet/beat deadlines.
