Senior Electricity Officer

Grade 5

1 Position on Permanent & Pensionable Terms

Reporting to the Principal Electricity Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring quality of service in the sub sector.

This will entail reviewing and recommending issuance of various approvals, formulation of frameworks, license conditions, standards and codes of practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing frameworks and standards for consumer installations
  • Developing and implementing procedures for licensing of sub sector practitioners, and monitoring their performance against established standards.
  • Providing technical input in the review of sector frameworks
  • Undertaking accident investigations and preparing reports.
  • Conducting technical audits of various facilities and preparing reports.

Qualifications & Skills Required

(i) At least four (4) years relevant work experience

(ii) A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant degree from a recognized university;

(iii) A Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant degree from a recognized university will added advantage;

(iv) Be a member of a legally recognized professional body in good standing;

(v) Must have demonstrated results in work performance;

(vi) A certificate ¡n supervisory course lasting not less two (2) weeks;

(vii) Proficiency in computer applications

(viii) Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution;

(ix) Personal attributes such as analytical skills, excellent communication and reporting skills, mentoring and leadership skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills, team player and strategic thinking.

Mandatory Requirements for all Positions

(vi) Valid Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)

(vii) Valid Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)

(viii) Current Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC); and

(ix) Current Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
