Job Vacancy: Head Chef

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee all the kitchen operations and make sure that standards of food quality are adhered to.
  • In charge of food cost control and overhead costs.
  • Ensuring that all the food being sold are of good quality and fresh by regular monitoring on daily stock level and ordering patterns
  • In charge of on-job training of the kitchen team on recipe interpretation, food production and presentation, portion control and quality.
  • Ensure the highest level of hygiene (food, kitchen and personal) is achieved in the kitchen.
  • Gives necessary feedback, reports and advice to the Executive Chef on trends, challenges or changes within the restaurant and disseminate new communication to the kitchen team.
  • In charge of duty and labour scheduling and optimization of the kitchen team.
  • Ensure that all food safety guidelines, audits and checks are adhered to.
  • Ensure that all menu items are available for sale.
  • Ensure that general and deep cleaning schedules are followed.
  • Menu engineering with new or existing culinary creations ensuring variety and quality servings.
  • Checks and certifies quality of dishes before they reach the customer.
  • Plan and orders of supplies according to par levels.
  • Ensures that all the machines are in good working condition.
  • Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work under pressure and with minimum supervision
  • Excellent communication skills and be a good listener.
  • Attention to details and satisfying guests demands
  • Focused on future business dynamics.
  • Ability in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills
  • Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes
  • Computer literate.
  • Have knowledge on cost management system.

Experience:

  • The person should have 3 years of kitchen management experience.
  • Be conversant with menu development.

  • Good in Training and team player.
  • Responsible, flexible and adaptable to business dynamics/changes
  • Capable of managing pressure under minimal supervision and have the face of customer in satisfying their needs/demands
  • Computer literate
  • Competent in food safety and Haccp programs
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and supervisory skills
