Job Title: Supply Chain Manager

Reports To: Managing Director

Location: Nairobi

Job Summary / Objective: Responsible for managing the supply chain planning process, including forecasting, procurement of inventory and maintaining budgeted inventory for the markets.

Responsible also for the growth of business operations, providing leads for new business opportunities and enhancing customer experience, in order to achieve profitable business growth.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day to day supply chain operations and ensure efficiency is achieved at all levels and provide supply chain leadership,
  • Develop, implement, monitor and improve supply chain strategies, processes, systems and practices,
  • Develop, document and execute a comprehensive logistics and distribution strategy that will drive optimal customer service and profitability,
  • Optimize the supply activities by providing petroleum products to the right locations, at the right times, at the lowest possible cost, safely and incident-free,
  • Coordinate entire planning process, including procurement, storage, transfers, inventory control, distribution and logistics,
  • Drive operational excellence and sharing of best practices across the business in order to reduce cost to serve on an ongoing basis,
  • Custodianship and reconciliation of petroleum products inventories at company and third-party locations,
  • Maintain good relationships with all stakeholders active in the supply chain of petroleum products to ensure unhampered flow of products,
  • Manage and ensure compliance with import/export regulations at all times,
  • Ensure real time understanding of demand changes through regular communications with supply points and adjust purchase orders and supplier schedules accordingly,
  • Lead supplier selection and qualification and monitor performance including quality, pricing and capacity, so as to ensure targets are met,
  • In liaison with the Management, develop, implement, monitor and review a detailed annual business operating plan and annual targets,
  • Manage product/service mix, pricing and margins according to agreed terms with clients,
  • Solicits feedback regularly from customers to monitor perceived performance of the service delivery, communicate feedback from customers and make recommendations for improvement of service delivery,
  • Develop strong ties with key customers and be proactive in understanding the trends and issues likely to impact the market,
  • Research new ways to improve market performance, service delivery, problem solving, cost reduction and response time for customers/clients,
  • Set up customers database, with the objective of developing an up to date knowledge base to implement best practice and actions to meet and/or exceed customer expectation,
  • Anticipate areas where there is a risk of dissatisfaction, identify actions and processes to implement to avoid problems, and validate them with the customers,
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the regulatory environment affecting the operations of the business, in all countries that we operate in or have interest in,
  • Actively monitor the business environment, anticipate or predict risks and develop and implement appropriate remedies,
  • Actively engage and develop new trading business as per the company‚Äôs vision

Operations

  • Liaise with the operations team in affiliate companies in scheduling of orders for delivery to customers, taking into consideration safety (no incidents) and transport economics (full loads whilst maximizing drop size, with no unplanned returns) and meeting and/or exceeding customer expectation,
  • Liaise with the operations team in companies in managing various delivery crises (such as shortage/damage, delay of delivery etc.) without compromising company standards,
  • Ensure that all reports required by the various departments are submitted as and when required, and that all relevant loading documents and receipts are submitted to the finance department without any discrepancies,
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Management.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Degree in Supply Chain or Petroleum Trading or any other related field,
  • 10 years working experience in business operations, of which 5 years should be in trading of Petroleum Supply Chain management or Petroleum Trading,
  • CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS EXPERIENCE IN SOURCING, SHIPPING AND DISTRIBUTION OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTS,
  • CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS KNOWLEDGE ON HOW TO CALCULATE ALL WHITE PRODUCTS PLATTS AND BENCHMARKING,
  • Candidate should understand the conditions and dynamics of East and Central African trading,
  • Candidate MUST possess excellent communications skills and interpersonal skills
  • Candidate MUST possess excellent computer skills and be able to analyze plats and other data sources,
