Job Description: Lathe Machine Operator

Location: Mombasa Road

Job Purpose: Talent Grid Africa, on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturer of LPG gas cylinders is looking for a Lathe Machine Operator to operate, and maintain lathe machines used in production.

The successful candidate will interpret engineering drawings, machine parts to specified tolerances, perform quality inspections, and ensure machines are operated safely and efficiently while meeting production targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and set up lathe machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and machining instructions.
• Perform machining operations including turning, boring, drilling, reaming, threading, and tapping.
• Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Conduct routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting, reporting any faults promptly.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards while maintaining a clean and organised work area.
• Meet daily production targets by minimising waste, downtime, and rework.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, quality inspectors, and maintenance teams, and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Technical Certificate, Diploma, or Trade Test in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, Production Engineering.
• Minimum 2–3 years' experience operating conventional or CNC lathe machines in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Knowledge of machining principles, cutting tools, and materials.
• Basic machine maintenance skills.
