Job Title: Project Manager (Tech & Conventional)
Location: Kenya & Djibouti
Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled Project Manager (Tech & Conventional) to oversee the installation and implementation of a tracking system and RFID equipment for freight trucks across Kenya and Djibouti. The Project Manager will ensure that all project objectives, timelines, and budgets are adhered to while managing both technical and conventional project management aspects. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills, experience in technology projects, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Management:
- Manage projects to ensure adherence to the approved budget, schedule, and scope.
- Oversee the planning and execution of project tasks, from system installation to final delivery.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address project challenges and ensure successful project outcomes.
2. Proposal Development:
- Develop, maintain, and adjust project proposals, including defining project objectives, systems, technologies, timelines, and staffing needs.
- Ensure all information specifications are met and properly communicated to the team and stakeholders.
- Lead and manage project teams, providing guidance and direction to ensure the successful completion of project tasks and milestones.
3. Milestone Tracking:
- Set, monitor, and track project milestones.
- Proactively manage unforeseen delays and adjust project schedules and expectations as needed to keep the project on track.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews and evaluations to assess project effectiveness, identify lessons learned, and make recommendations for future improvements.
4. Communication Management:
- Communicate project status, updates, and key milestones to stakeholders through regular meetings, reports, and presentations.
- Establish and implement comprehensive project communication plans.
5. Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and create mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project success.
- Ensure project goals are met with minimal disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in ICT, Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field and any other relevant certifications PMP, Prince 2.
- Certification: Prince2, PMP, or equivalent project management certification is required.
- Language: Fluency in both English and French is required.
- Experience: 6-10 years of experience in project management, particularly in tech-related or systems implementation projects, with Proven experience as a Project Manager leading large-scale technology implementation projects, preferably in the logistics or transportation industry.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute project plans, manage project budgets, and deliver projects on time and within scope.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to cargo security and transportation logistics.
Skills:
- Proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using project management software and tools.
- Experience in managing budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Working Conditions:
- Flexibility in working hours may be required.
- The position will involve travel between Kenya and Djibouti as needed to oversee project implementation.
