Reliever Kindergarten Teacher

Location: Diamond Junior School (Athi River Campus)

Contract Duration: 3 Months

Job Summary: We are seeking a  dynamic and dedicated Reliever Kindergarten Teacher to temporarily cover a maternity leave position. The successful candidate will take over full teaching responsibilities by planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate educational program that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare & follow termly schemes of work to be covered.
• Teach all areas of the curriculum to ensure the syllabus is well covered.
• Plan, prepare and deliver daily lessons to all students in the class.
• Adapt curriculum to fit student needs while maintaining overall class progress.
• Use appropriate learning materials such as visuals/audio to facilitate the learning process.
• Prepare, issue and mark appropriate assignments to facilitate positive student development.
• Create a fun environment in and out of the classroom.
• Supervise and monitor students while performing different activities and duties in and out of the classroom.
• Take daily attendance to identify and record absence.
• Assess and record students’ performance by grading work and giving tests. Identify problem areas and areas which need attention and improvement.
• Monitor the students and ensure the school routine and timetable is followed.
• Build students’ self-worth and confidence through positive teaching methods and encouragement.
• Provide students with basic toilet training when necessary.
• Clean and dress students when they mess up.
• Serve learners and feed those who are not able to feed themselves.
• Dress and undress learners during extra-curricular activities.
• Maintain order and discipline among students while promoting safety and compliance with school rules and guidelines.
• Provide development of learners both physically and emotionally.
• Provide guidance and counselling to learners to promote their mental wellbeing.
• Document student progress and communicate with parents to keep them informed.
• Order and receive stationery and Montessori materials and books as per inventory levels.

Key Skills and Competencies

• Certificate in Early Childhood Development Education.
• A certificate in Montessori is an added advantage.
• Proven experience as a teacher – Minimum 3 years.
• Must be registered by TSC.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• High level of patience.
• First Aid skills.
