Job Title: Systems Engineer

Job Purpose / Summary: The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of all Wananchi Group Systems.
These include the BSS/OSS provisioning systems, Domain Name Systems (DNS), DHCP management systems, Conditional Access Systems (CAS), Email systems, Web servers, Authentication systems, network monitoring systems etc. The Systems Engineer will also be responsible for maintain the organization LAN and WAN
Key Roles:
- Develop or adapt existing software for use in various systems and products within the business using java and other open-source scripting tools like UNIX/Linux shell scripting and php.
- Installation, Configuration and Administration the Group’s Active Directory servers.
- Installation , configuration and administration of the group’s monitoring platforms e.g. SolarWinds, Cacti etc.
- Installation, configuration, customization and administer UNIX/Linux based e-Mail servers, DNS, Database servers, caching servers and network monitoring systems.
- Operations, maintenance, upgrades and administration of the subscriber management, billing and provisioning systems (BSS/OSS); conditional access systems for HFC, GPON and DTH infrastructure; mail systems; monitoring systems; DNS systems; and authentication systems used to control access to various systems
Operations and maintenance of the back end-provisioning systems for HFC and GPON network - Planning and implementation of systems upgrades to keep up with technological advancements/enhancements
- Responsible for ensuring backup systems are in place and working (includes design, implementation and testing of backup system and data integrity)
- Creation, operations and maintenance of monitoring systems, to ensure prompt and factual reporting of network and systems KPIs and metrics
- Responsible for systems security and integrity
- Generation and analysis of reports from the various monitoring systems
- Development and documentation of Systems disaster recovery plan; process documentation and periodic testing
- Proactive monitoring of network and systems vital parameters
- Research, development and implementation of new systems technologies
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have the below Qualifications.
- Be a degree holder in Information Technology or Computer science
- Professional Experience certification. MCSE & CCNA
- At least 5 years' experience in a busy IT related environment Additionally the candidate should possess the following skills:-
- Good problem-solving skills
- An organized technical mind
- Good IT Skills
- Good Knowledge of Windows and Linux OS
- Ability to work under pressure
- Solid Networking Knowledge ( OSI Network Layers, TCP/IP)
- Experience with Virtualization ( Vmware, Hyper-V)
