POSITION TITLE: TAX MANAGER

INDUSTRY: FINTECH

LOCATION: NAIROBI

The Job

We are experiencing rapid growth and are seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced Tax Manager to join our dynamic team.

The Tax Manager will be responsible for providing expert tax advice, managing all regulatory matters, and overseeing contract management, while also supporting our and its subsidiaries.

In this role, you will work closely with seasoned consultants across various countries where we operate, gaining invaluable experience in navigating the complex tax and regulatory landscape of the Fintech industry.

This position is ideal for a dedicated professional who is eager to dive into the fast-paced world of Fintech. You will collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, so strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment are essential.

In addition to excellent written and verbal communication, you will need to demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations in Kenya, across Africa, Canada, and the UK.

2. Oversee the preparation and timely filing of tax returns including corporate tax, VAT, and other regional taxes.

3. Monitor and adapt to changes in tax legislation across the regions and assess their impact on the company.

4. Develop and implement tax strategies that align with the company’s global operations and objectives.

5. Advise on tax-efficient structures for cross-border transactions and operations.

6. Design, implement, and manage transfer pricing policies and documentation in accordance with local and international regulations.

7. Conduct transfer pricing analyses to ensure that intercompany transactions are priced correctly and align with regulatory guidelines.

8. Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with international tax compliance and planning.

9. Prepare comprehensive tax documentation and ensure accuracy and completeness of tax records.

10. Coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities in different jurisdictions for audits and inquiries.

11. Provide detailed tax reporting and analysis to senior management.

12. Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.

13. Conduct training sessions to enhance the team's understanding of international tax regulations and practices.

14. Offer expert tax advice on business decisions, transfer pricing, acquisitions, and other significant transactions with a multi-regional perspective.

15. Work closely with other departments to integrate tax considerations into financial planning and decision-making.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.

2. CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.

3. Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax management with significant exposure to multi-regional environments, including Africa, Canada, and the UK.

4. Proven expertise in international tax laws, compliance, and planning, professional services firm experience preferred.

5. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and develop strategic solutions.

6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across different regions and cultures.

7. Excellent time management and project management skills.

Preferred Skills:

1. Experience with tax optimization strategies and managing cross-border tax issues.

2. Knowledge of regional tax treaties and their implications for business operations.

3. Ability to navigate multi-jurisdictional tax audits and regulatory interactions.
