Description
Core Responsibilities
- Collect, process, and handle blood and/or other biological specimens according to established procedures; instructs patients in the proper collection of samples
- Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests in the areas of hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis, as assigned; conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine and perform blood counts using microscope as outlined on SOPs, Manuals and Policies
- Perform quality control on test results, ensuring validity and accuracy
- Performs calibration and troubleshooting on testing systems and instruments to ensure adherence to established standards of accuracy
- Keep records and reports on results according to established procedures
- Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods
- Orientation of new staff
- Timely and accurate billing of laboratory services.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma/ BSC in Medical Laboratory Sciences or related disciplines
- Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.
Experience
- 3 +years’ work experience.
Technical skills/Leadership competencies
- Proficiency in computer application packages
- Able to use, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
- Effective communication both oral and written
- Attention to details
- Systematically manage work and workplace
- Demonstrate leadership and organizational competence
- Uphold ethics and professionalism
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
