Description

Our client, a premier safari company operating several Camps and Lodges across Kenya that offers immersive safari experiences and luxury accommodations is seeking to recruit an Overall Camp Manager.

Location: Kenya

JOB PURPOSE

As the Overall Camp Manager, you will oversee and support multiple camp managers ensuring guest satisfaction and staff development in alignment with established quality standards.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide oversight and support to camp managers, offering guidance and decision-making assistance.
  • Host guests within the camps, ensuring the delivery of our guest promise through exemptional service delivery.
  • Identify training and development needs for team members and provide ongoing training to meet service standards.
  • Set, document, and implement standards within departments, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all camp policies, procedures, operating manuals, training manuals and disciplinary codes are in place, signed and understood by staff.
  • Effectively manage staff performance, ensuring they meet allocated goals and objectives through reviewing regularly and evaluation.
  • Discuss career opportunities for all team members and implement succession plans in collaboration with HR.
  • Clarify and implement company and department objectives while seeking feedback and results from team leaders and associates.
  • Achieve monthly and annual budgets, seeking efficiencies.
  • Maintain, improve service delivery standards, and make decisions consistent with company policies, procedures and objectives.
  • Develop positive relationships with suppliers and third parties.
  • Work towards gaining a competitive edge in the market and respond effectively to marketing initiatives.
  • Enhance performance measurement and reporting capabilities.
  • Improve financial analysis, controls, audit processes and manage risks efficiently.
  • Manage staff productivity and efficiency while supporting efficient daily administration.
  • Conduct regular meetings for effective communication and coordination.
  • Improve system accuracy and responsiveness.
  • Control costs within set parameters and perform other duties assigned by management.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND TRAITS

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in camp or hotel management roles.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of hospitality industry standards and practices.
  • Experience in staff training and development.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and hospitality management software.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
